Ryan
Ryan has been kiting since 2009, and started teaching kiteboarding as an IKO instructor (International Kiteboarding Organization) in 2011. Since then he has taught hundreds of students in the USA, as well as several other countries around the globe. He received his IKO Level 2 Instructor the IKO and IKO Head Instructor certifications in 2014.
He spends an equal amount of time on the water riding his twin tip and his strapless surfboard, always looking for a variety of conditions from flat water to moderate waves. He has developed a new passion for riding the foil, and can be seen cruising on foil in light wind conditions in sunny, windy El Cuyo, Mexico.
When he travels to a new kiting destination, he looks forward to experiencing everything; new riding spots, culinary delights, street food, nightlife, and exploring the wilds. And he has a passion for meeting new people and sharing in their rich cultural heritage and celebrations.
In January 2015 he started traveling with his wife and daughter, Becky and Avy. Over the years of 2015 and 2016 they lived and kited in Cartagena, Colombia; Cabarete, Dominican Republic; Boracay, Philippines; Rameshwaram, India; Sanur, Bali; Le Morne, Mauritius; Mui Ne. Vietnam; as well as having traveled through several other non-windy destinations. In 2017, after discovering El Cuyo, Mexico and realizing he and his family had finally found their little piece of windy paradise, they purchased land close to the kite beach and built the Costa Chido guest house in this amazing kite destination.
Ryan is an engineer who has found a way to make his life revolve around kiting. He loves to meet new people and share his experiences. He also enjoys DJing and producing electronic music in his spare time. Additionally, he is sometimes known as "John's personal photographer", and has photographs published in various kiteboarding magazines and websites.
Oh, and he is absolutely addicted to fishing. Check out his blog to know what you can expect to catch in the waters of El Cuyo: Click Here
